2017-18 Season

Welcome to 2017-18

Welcome to the 2017-18 Centaurus Warrior Girls Lacrosse Season.

Sports, in general, and Centaurus Warrior Girls Lacrosse in particular, are extensions of the classroom and are an integral part of the whole educational experience.  While we place great emphasis on the fundamentals of the game and drill these throughout the season, the ultimate goals are for the players to enjoy the game and its natural "flow", and to develop the kind of character that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Lacrosse is a game of transition. It is a "player’s game" that, when played well, has a rhythm, a flow and a grace unmatched in other sports. Good players are not programmed, but learn to make split-second decisions in a variety of ever-changing situations and under pressure. Our goal is not to teach plays, but rather to help young women learn how to play. Our emphasis is on the "process", on "intentions", on the steps our athletes need to take to become good individual players and, collectively, to become a great team. The nature of the game requires that players must have imagination and be creative within the framework of the team concept. We want our athletes to be well-skilled in the fundamentals, display a strong work ethic, know how to compete, and become autonomous, disciplined and team-oriented lacrosse players.

In this section you'll find information concerning:

Registration (must be done through Centaurus High School)

PER BVSD POLICY: To be eligible to participate in athletics and to complete the registration process, parents must complete the online registration then take the current physical and the athletic fee (or online payment receipt) to Centaurus High School. Boulder Valley Schools highly recommends a valid physical prior to participation in an intramural sport; however, the district minimally requires submission of the intramural permission form and the athletic fee PRIOR to participating.

NOTE: Your child's physician should have a BVSD form for Athletic participation. Please contact your child's physician prior to contacting the school.

NOTE: Please include your daughter's school and grade on the Registration Receipt as this allows CHS to notify your child's school admins and get your daughter excused for Early Release for Away Games.

ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE TURNED IN TO SUE FISCHER AT CHS BEFORE YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.

The 4 C's

Each one of us has a HUGE impact on our program’s culture. It doesn’t matter whether you are a captain, coach, athlete, parent, fan, athletic director, principal, etc., the behavior we exhibit, endorse, and enforce sends a strong and clear message about what kinds of attitudes and actions are both acceptable and unacceptable in our culture and our program.

In fact, the things we practice, promote, and praise soon become acceptable behavior and the things we don’t do, discourage, and decry become unacceptable in our culture.

Each individual helps set the standards of behavior and thus plays a significant role in shaping our program’s culture through adhering to The Warrior Way.

For Away Games:

All athletes will have an early release from school on days when we have an away game. CHS will communicate these time to each athlete's school.

Buses leave from CHS. Bus departure time and early release time is determined by the district and is based on: Travel Time + 45 - 60 minutes for pre-game warmup prior to game start time. There is one bus for the entire program. All athletes will need a ride home from CHS after the bus returns from a game.

Athletes must wear their grey Warrior Lacrosse warmups (purchased through the Spirit Store) and uniform on the bus. Athletes are required to ride the bus to and from all games. This policy promotes team cohesion and camaraderie. If extenuating circumstances require an athlete to travel home without the team, athletes and their ride home must sign out with the head coach.
